Business mentoring is a relationship where an experienced person guides you, the entrepreneur, in running and improving your business. The business mentor offers advice, guidance and support to help you run and improve your business.

Mentoring can involve face‑to‑face meetings, online discussions, or a combination of both. The format depends on what works best for both you and your mentor.

Formal or informal mentoring?

A mentor will likely stay in touch with you through meetings, phone calls, and emails.
The mentoring relationship can vary from being casual, with monthly calls or informal visits, to being formal and structured, with set meeting agendas and business goals.

Some mentoring services are free, while others are paid for or require a subscription. Not all mentors have to be formally established as such. Friends, family and business contacts can all become involved in unofficial mentoring.
