Have your say on the CMA’s civil engineering market study

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is inviting views on its interim report into the civil engineering sector for public roads and railways.

The report examines how supply chains, procurement, and regulations can work more effectively to deliver value to the public and support UK economic growth.

What the interim report covers

The CMA has identified issues such as:

  • pipeline uncertainty
  • procurement policies
  • capacity constraints
  • regulatory barriers

It is asking stakeholders to share feedback on these concerns and on options to create a fairer, more competitive market where businesses can innovate and invest confidently.

How to respond

Stakeholders can share feedback through written submissions by 5pm on 28 January 2026.

The CMA will also host a webinar on 8 January 2026 to explain the interim report and how to respond.
